Rating: - Does not work!
Bought one from Home Depot. Used it to drill 4 holes on the wall, only one had stud behind it--pure luck?

Bought one at my local Lowe's, didn't work at all. Anyone can have a lemon so I returned it in exchange for another. Guess what? Didn't work. Pay attention to the reviews that note Zircons suck.

It's not a perfect device but it gets the job done. I'm not sure how exact it is but if you understand enough to be able to do an ear test, this thing is a good little back up to double check yourself. Found a stud for my TV mount perfectly and now I'm typing away on the screen floating above my desk. Bottom line, if you're clueless to finding studs maybe get something a little better but this will help you pin point the exact spot of a stud you already have a general idea about.

This is the worst stud finder I've ever used over a period of 30 years. It gives false readings. You're wasting your money if you purchase it. The so-called tool has the usual made-in-China quality, which is almost always poor if there's any at all.

Purchased the stud finder "edge" at home depot to use in assisting hanging my TV mount. The dry wall is 2 years old, painted with latex paint, and 1/2" thick. As previous users would suggest this unit gives a lot of false positives and often locates a stud in one place one swipe and in another place the next.
